Reviews

A girl’s hair is a crown , a link to their ancestry, their heritage... and in the case of this beautiful new book; their HAIRITAGE.

The journey of #hairlove is usually joyful, emotional, and creative, but a sad reality for most young Black girls, it can be a topic of painful memories. In this story, Lillian is like so many young girls including my own, is thrilled about her hair for picture day. But after overhearing her friends make fun of her hair, Lillian loses her confidence.

Lillian’s mother brings her back by lovingly giving her the metaphor of growing, blooming, and blossoming through her hair journey just like a flower.

This #ownvoices book is a must have addition to all home and classroom libraries.

Thank you to the author for my copy of the book. All opinions, as always are my own.
